In other news, the great website A SPACE WITH visited my studio and took some great video and photos of new and old work!

INTRUDER comics from Seattle, free with every order!
Posted: November 27, 2012 Filed under: News Leave a commentJust got a bunch of copies of INTRUDER #4 from the great Tom Van Deusen (I’ve just discovered Tom’s work and really love it). INTRUDER is a Seattle centric anthology featuring work by Jason T Miles, Max Clotfelter, Marc Palm, Van Deusen and more. Along with Jason T Miles efforts with Profanity Hill and Kelly Froh & Eroyn Franklins SHORT RUN, there is a really incredible amount of energy coming out of Seattle. INTRUDER does a good job of showcasing that energy in a beautiful collection of art and comics.
I’m happy to be able to include a free copy of INTRUDER with every order to the DOMINO store—even people ordering the special DOMINO holiday offer will get a free Intruder. But, I don’t have as many copies as the above photo suggests. Order now to make sure you get a copy with your order before I run out!
DOMINO Holiday Special!
Posted: November 23, 2012 Filed under: News Leave a commentStarting today, you can order the first 5 books published by DOMINO for just $21—that’s 5 books for the price of 4, plus FREE SHIPPING to anywhere in the world! In the last two years, DOMINO has published Dark Tomato by Sakura Maku, Spider Monkey by Jesse McManus, Difficult Loves by Molly Colleen O’Connell, Face Man by Clara Bessijelle and Space Basket by Jonny Petersen. We are a very small company, and each project that we publish is very dear to us. As an artist myself, all the projects I work on through DOMINO are works that make me feel strongly about making art myself and that I feel deserve to be published with the most elegant production possible. My own feelings about art are complicated and I think that these first 5 books from DOMINO are my best attempt at summing up my admiration for a lot of different art making approaches. I’m glad to offer all 5 books together as a holiday sale because I think—due to their diversity of aesthetic and intentions—they work best when viewed as a whole. Order the books together at this discounted price through December 21st!
Dark Tomato #2 previewed in THE BROOKLYN RAIL
Posted: November 19, 2012 Filed under: News 1 CommentBe sure to pick up this weeks BROOKLYN RAIL (available all over NYC)—Sakura Maku, author of DOMINO‘s flagship title Dark Tomato previews DARK TOMATO #2. The book itself will be out from DOMINO sometime in 2013.
Sakura is all over the place these days—she has a major story in the current issue of TIN HOUSE, one of the country’s leading literary magazine’s. Sakura is part of the reason we started DOMINO and her art only continues to get stronger and more worth everyone’s time.
Jason T Miles @ DOMINO
Posted: November 15, 2012 Filed under: News Leave a commentWe are proud today to share a comic by Jason T Miles on the DOMINO site. Jason’s work, for a lot of cartoonists, is such a strong, silent influence. Miles is always pushing his image making into complicated territories, but what I always come back to is the balanced feeling of all his work. There is a center in all of it that is exhilarating to whip your eyes over. And that center comes from something that shouldn’t be underestimated: whether his work is quiet or full of noise, Miles speaks in ‘the language of the heart.’ This is complicated work because it is unashamed of heartfelt expression. As an artist myself, Miles work is what I look to to remind myself to push the hard and true aspects of my own art—and to sharpen the intellectual and emotional tools side by side.
I’m proud to announce that the next issue of PINES, Miles’ flagship publication (self-published up to this point), will be released from DOMINO this Fall. We’ll be posting previews of it soon, but for now please enjoy this strip.
